About Martin Knitwear
I’m a knitwear designer from Doncaster, shaped by the grit and industry of my hometown and by my own experience of growing up gay in a place defined by its toughness. My work explores that contrast — softness within something strong — using knitwear as a way to express identity, emotion, and defiance.
I approach design through a queer lens, seeing it as a space to question, play, and subvert expectations. My pieces aren’t about fitting into commercial trends; they’re about creating something honest and distinctive — garments that tell stories, hold memories, and celebrate individuality.
Innovation and sustainability sit at the core of what I do. I’m constantly exploring new materials, processes, and techniques to push the boundaries of traditional knitwear, while being mindful of the impact each decision has.
This space is a visual documentation of that journey — a collection of ideas, textures, and experiences that reflect how I see the world and how I choose to reimagine it through knitwear.
