For this project, we were tasked with creating two garments that combined different textiles and textures, each inspired by a personal concept or object of desire. I chose a book my grandmother gave me as a child, which became the foundation for my concept. This evolved into the overarching theme “Gone but Never Forgotten” — exploring the people and objects we hold on to as a way of preserving memory. My designs drew inspiration from my grandmother’s sofa and decorative plates, which I translated into the garments through embroidery and Shima knitting techniques.
